 *Today's exercise*:

1) If possible, get the 8th standard science book and read carefuly the chapter "Cells and Cell Parts".

 *Inside the cell*

*Arjuna:* - Hey Keshav, I want to know about cell division.  Before that, tell me, do all the cells in the body divide?
*Shri krishna:* - Hey Parth, you have asked a very good question!  We have learned in the nineth standard that the human body consists of different types of cells and tissues.  Of these, cells such as heart cells, nerve cells, some muscle cells, and red blood cells do not divide. However, the body can create new versions of these cells. The rest of the cells divide in different ways.

*Arjun:* - It means, there are different types of cell division?
*Lord Krishn:* - Yes Parth, cell division takes place in three ways.
1) binary fission 2)mitosis and 3) meiosis.

*Arjun:* - How to identify which cell divides in which cell?
*Lord Krishn:* - There are two main types of cells in the human body.  1) somatic cells and 2) germ cells.  Somatic (somat means body) cells are found everywhere in the body.  Genital cells (sex cells) are found in the genitals.  Mitosis occurs in somatic cells, while meiosis occurs in germ cells.  Binary fission occurs in some unicellular organisms.

*Arjun:* - Hey Keshav, I do not understand the meaning of the words- binary fission, mitosis and meiosis.
*Shri Krishn:* - Hey Parth, step by step we are going to understand the meaning of these three words. We will first understand the mitosis. Before that, can you name the organs in the cells?

*Arjun:* - A few names can be mentioned. Such as, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi complex, vacuole, plastids, lysosomes etc.
*Lord Krishn:* - Very nice! you know most of the organs. Each of these organs has a unique place in the cell.  Everyone’s work is important. As mentioned in today's exercise, the details of cell organs are given in the 8th standard textbook. If possible, read and understand the information. This will help you to understand process of cell division.  Okay ..... see you tomorrow.
*Arjun:* - Thank you Vasudev!
